How did I ever read without this light
Because of all the issues I have read about and heard about with the lighted Kindle covers I refused to buy one. However most of my reading is done at night so I needed a light. I bought several different lights in the three weeks I have owned my Kindle and none of them worked the way I wanted. They didnt light the whole page, they had a horrible glare, they got in the way of my reading, they burned out quickly and so on. The Kandle on the other hand is PERFECT!!!! I can angle the light, it clips on without being in the way, there is no horrible glare, and best of all the light stays on the Kindle and not all over the room so I can read in bed and not disturb my husband. It also works great on regular books as my husband was using it the other day while reading. He also found that it is the perfect light to use in dark places with instruction manuals. I love the Kandle as it fits perfectly inside my neoprene cases zipper pocket when I do not need it. Plus the fact that for the price it also comes with batteries, an extra set of batteries and a screw driver for the battery compartment. Plus to order replacement batteries is only $5 for 25 batteries...that is a steal compared to the other lights I have purchased. I have used this light for a total of 49.5 hours so far and it is still just as bright as the day it arrived. Another benefit is that there are two light settings..bright and brighter so I can adjust it to fit my needs and neither one produces a glare. This light makes my Kindle experience even better!

Love this thing!
I was trying to use a regular book light for my Kindle 3, and it kept popping off. The price point on this Kandle is a bit high, but now that I have it, I think it's worth it. It fits perfectly on my Kindle 3 and matches the graphite color really nicely. Other reviewers have mentioned the feel of this Kandle and I have to echo my approval -- it's got a soft, matte finish -- and this makes it a lot better than if it were shiny plastic. BUT on to functionality: the lighting is great! I use it on the first level of brightness almost all the time, but for those who want/need more, it has a second higher level of brightness, also. Major plus for having its own case, screwdriver, and additional replacement battery. Very pleased!Update:OK, so the battery life kind of sucks. The good news is you can get a bunch of replacement batteries cheaply on eBay. The bad news is, I've accidentally turned on the light a few times and have even drained all new batteries without even knowing it (or using it once!). It's too bad the Kandle doesn't come packed in a hard carrying case, because it's too easy to trigger the switch and turn it on while it's in your bag. [It's also hard to tell that you've turned it on because you can't really see the light on while the lid is down, so it's not like it's shining brightly in your bag if it's on.] My friend got the SimpleLight for Kindle ( SimpleLight for Kindle, Attaches to Kindle Keyboard (6" Screen), NO Batteries Needed ) which does not require batteries and it looks great -- I recommend this for Kindle 3 Keyboard users over the Kandle.

Comparison between 7(!!) different Kindle (touch) lights...,
I tend to obsess about finding the perfect solution for things, and this happened also with my search for a light for my new kindle touch, that I absolutely love. I ended up trying 7 different lights, and will post this comparison as a review for all of them. Hopefully others can benefit from my experience...- Might Bright XtraFlex2: It is, indeed, mighty bright, but more in scope than in intensity. It casts light on a HUGE area, enough to disturb my partner in bed... On the kindle itself, it is only slightly brighter than other lights. Not enough to justify its size in my opinion. Which brings us to its other flaw - it is BIG. The clip is too large to clip straight onto the top of the kindle. I had to clip it diagonally. It seemed to work and be stable that way, but it is a big beast, and would not be convenient for travel, for me. Given that the illumination onto the kindle itself was only slightly brighter than other lights, I didn't think it was a good solution.- Verso clip-on: Good travel size, very very blue light, not very bright, and it actually POPPED OFF my kindle when I tried to adjust the head of the light to shine in a slightly different direction. And while it's fairly small, it does not fold in any particular way, so it's not very compact.- Verso Arc: Nice form factor, but I found the bright but somewhat uneven, and worst of all (which is why I returned it), if I held it in bed in a particular angle that I happen to like, the light reflected off the top of the screen in a really annoying way. Also, the light was VERY much on the blue end of the spectrum ("cold").- Octovo: Also a compact light, but I found it very weak.- Belkin Clip-On: As *light*, this was the best light of all. It is the only one that was truly "warm" (more like daylight), rather than blue. I loved the *light*. BUT, it is NOT adapted for the kindle touch!!! The adapter they send is for the kindle *keyboard* (as off Dec 2011). It just keeps falling off the kindle touch. With tried it with my partner's keyboard, and it fit perfectly. So watch out for that. Furthermore, it IS bulky. I could live with the bulk because I loved the light itself so much, but if it keeps falling off, that makes it useless. If they ever come out with a version for the touch, I might buy it just to have by the bed, and use another light for travel (see below).- Kandle (regular): Form factor wise, it is the nicest and most elegant. Fits on the Kindle like a glove, and even fits into my Belkin sleeve for the kindle. Yes, the light on the screen is a bit uneven (weaker at the bottom or on the further side, depending on whether you have it mounted on the side or the top), but not terribly so. BUT it has two major flaws. (1) When you close the lid, the light does not shut down automatically. And once it's shut, you don't notice it's on. Easy to go through a set of batteries per day in this way... And (2), the on/off button is too easily pressed. I pulled it out of my purse to find the light on, when I know I shut it off. So if you'll have it anywhere where it might come in contact with other things, again, watch out for battery issues...- Kandle Flex: This is the one I ended up with. Again, like the other kandle, fits on the kindle like a glove. It's very compact, easy to adjust the direction of the light without disturbing the base (unlike the mighty bright or the verso clip-on), very compact, small form factor, and decent light. Because the direction of the light is adjustable, it's easy to get relatively even light throughout. The only negative I have is that the light is not quite as warm as a the belkin (but I am not sure it's doable with "watch" batteries), and is a touch weaker than I'd like, again, I think because they use watch batteries. In exchange, you get a very nice, light, compact form factor. So, while not perfect, it is, in my opinion, the clear winner in this lot, and the one I ended upkeeping.

Review of Kandle LED Book Light
After using my Kandle LED Book Light with my Kindle for a couple of weeks or more now, I can confidently say that it is an excellent product.I have had two other lights that, in my quest for a good one for night-time reading with my Kindle, I requested and received for Christmas last year. While both lights work well with "physical" books, they are impossible to use with my Kindle.Let me first say what the Kandle is NOT in comparison with these other lights. The Kandle LED Book Light does not block the print on the Kindle screen with an obtrusive lamp head, as is the case with each of the other lights given to me; nor does the Kandle cause any glare whatsoever on the screen, which the other two do.As well, neither of the other lights clamps onto the Kindle as well as the Kandle does, nor does either provide as optimal an amount of light as the Kandle. The other lights are impossible to keep attached to my Kindle cover, or the bare Kindle itself, and keep falling off. The Kandle, however, fits the coverless Kindle beautifully, and, with a slight adjustment to one of the elastic bands which fit over the Kindle when the cover is on, the Kandle stays on well with absolutely no problem. I simply don't attach the small elastic band on the left upper corner, with the result that the Kandle fits perfectly over the cover with its bottom clamp and onto the edge of the Kindle with the top clamp without the Kindle itself loosening at all in its cover. Actually, the Kandle's excellent clamps help anchor the Kindle tightly in the cover so it doesn't move at all without that top left elastic.Neither of the other lights has adjustments for very low or no light, as in bed at night with the Kindle in a lightless room. But the Kandle has two settings: one for low light which works well, and one for no light which is excellent since it is brighter and covers the whole screen with light, thus making reading the screen easy with no light in the room. As well, the Kandle turns on easily with a switch on its top half, and it turns off automatically when you bring the cover down to close it when you're finished reading. Its design is simple and elegant, thus making it easy to use.I use the Kandle with my Kindle often during the night when I can't sleep, but have, up till now, been reluctant to put my bedside light on because it disturbs my husband's sleep. But now I can read beautifully in a lightless room without my husband even knowing that I'm reading.Another thing I like about the Kandle is its LED batteries, which are small, button-like and, thankfully, long-lasting since they are lithium ion batteries. And they are not that expensive to buy.So, all in all, I think that the elegant Kandle LED Book Light is an excellent product in every way. I keep it clamped to my Kindle (with cover) all the time because it is fairly small and unobtrusive. I am very thankful that, after trying to find a suitable Kindle light for the past two years, I have finally hit the jackpot with this elegant little Kandle!
