All of their products are produced and packaged in the United States, and the vast majority of their ingredients are sourced and originate in the United States. They do source some proteins from outside the United States, such as from Australia, Brazil, and New Zealand, as indicated on their packaging. Some other ingredients do originate from outside the United States – for example, lentils can be sourced from the United States or Canada. There are some essential vitamins and minerals that do not originate in the United States because they are not produced here. Taurine, for instance, which is used in their dry and wet cat food to meet the nutrient requirements set by AAFCO, is not produced in the United States and may be sourced from Japan or China. Their vitamin premixes are blended in the United States by a US company, and their supplier undergoes numerous quality checks to ensure that safety and specifications are met. They at “I and love and you” believe in full transparency. Are “I and love and you” pet foods organic? No, at this time none of their products are organic. That said, all of their pet food, chews and treats meet their natural standard – made from quality ingredients with no artificial flavors or colors, no preservatives and no by-product meals. While their ingredients are very high quality, once they are sourced and shipped to a pet food production facility, they are no longer considered by the USDA to be human grade. If they shipped Wagyu beef to their facility – the kind used to make fancy burgers that cost like 35 bucks in a restaurant — that would still be the case. So while they humans have been known to eat tasty “I and love and you” treats, their food is not considered human grade due to this USDA regulation (and humans, their treats are best enjoyed by your pets, please don’t try this at home). How many calories are in their food? They know even their pets sometimes need to watch what they eat and count a few calories.
